ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved

Hi am using Mac iOS 10.14.3 and Local 3.0.4.
I’ve followed all the instructions but get an error message saying the website could not be reached. Everything appears to be working fine, there’s just no website data. Where am I supposed to put the downloaded wordpress file? Do I need to tell Local where to find it… i’m never asked each time i hit the create new site button. I don’t really understand how its supposed to know where the wordpress site file is stored.
Thanks.

Hey @djdonbond,

Oh shoot, well that certainly shouldn’t be happening!

First off, to answer your question of where the site files live, when creating a site you can click on the ‘advanced options’ to select a ‘Local site path’ of your choice. Otherwise, by default, sites are saved to ~/Local Sites on Mac.

As for the issue, I have a few ideas about what might be causing it. But first, would you try opening the site in another browser? Occasionally, I’ve seen some issues that are related to the browser and this could help identify a solution. You can also try to delete ~/Library/Application Support/Local by Flywheel/routes.

If neither of these resolves the issue, I have a couple of questions that should help me zero in on the culprit:

  1. Do you see any errors immediately after you create a new site?
  2. Are you running vpn or any anti-virus scan software?

And then finally, would you please provide your local-by-flywheel.log file? See “How do I retrieve Local’s log file?” for instructions on how to do so.

Thanks!
