Installing any plugin or theme results in "parse error..."

A reinstall of Local. After creating a new site with the default preferred environment, after I install any plugin or theme I receive a “parse error”.

EX: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file, expecting ‘)’ in /app/public/wp-content/themes/oceanwp/inc/helpers.php on line 3766

Stuck.

It really looks like your theme, oceanwp, is causing the issue.

I don’t buy it. It is any theme, any plugin that gets installed that generates the same type of parsing error. Even on a new site… up to 4 of them.

If it’s any theme or any plugin there must be different errors. Try deleting the OceanWP theme and activate a default theme.

I have the same issue.

  • It happens with any theme and/or any plugin that is downloaded through the install.
  • If the same theme and/or plugin is downloaded manually and dropped in the folder it works.

I’ve tested with:

  • Multiple clean installs using the default configuration
  • Twenty Seventeen & Twenty Nineteen themes
  • Local 3.0.4

This is a really aggravating issue and I can’t seem to find a proper solution for it. Manual downloads work but sometimes when plugins are bundled that is not an option.

BUMP …this is still and issue.
