No local sites can be accessed - "getsockopt: connection refused"

Hi

Recently I started getting this error on every local site:

“dial tcp 127.0.53.53:80: getsockopt: connection refused”

However, I can ping individual sites from the terminal, that resolves to the local ip 192.168.75.100, but trying to access sites in browser resolves to a different ip, 127.0.53.53 apparently? (It happens in any browser)

This is driving me crazy and need to find a fix before I get too far behind with work. Any ideas?

I have tried looking around here already, and no suggestions seem to have any effect.

I have not tried yet, but I would be willing to uninstall and reinstall, but I have almost 40 dev sites for customers that I don’t really want to set up again if it only “maybe fixes” the problem :-/

I would highly appreciate any advice or suggestions, thank you

I am embarrassed; I have been Googling furiously for an answer trying different solutions, reading result 100+ I spot a mention that connects with me:

This issue just popped up for me overnight as well, and it turned out TunnelBear Chrome extension was engaged. In case that rings true for anyone else.

It rang true for me, so forget my bug report slight_smile:
