Do you have to be a Flywheel customer to use Local?

Not at all! While Local will likely work, look, and feel best if you’re using it with Flywheel, it is a standalone local development application. Enjoy! 🙂


How do I get my site from Local to Flywheel?

Make sure you’re running the latest version of Local.  Once you’re up and running, navigate to the Connect to Flywheel tab to sign up (or log in!) to Flywheel.


What are the minimum requirements to run Local by Flywheel?

The minimum requirements on a Mac are:

  • 4GB RAM
  • 1GB Disk Space
  • macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later

And on Windows:

  • 4GB RAM
  • 1GB Disk Space
  • Windows 7, 8, 8.1, or 10

Where do I find the version of Local I’m running?

Mac Users

  1. Open Local by Flywheel
  2. Click on “Local by Flywheel in the upper-left corner of your Mac window
  3. Select “About Local”
  4. Here you will find which version of Local you’re running

Windows Users

  1. Open Local by Flywheel
  2. Click on the hamburger menu in the upper-left corner of the application
  3. Click on “About Local”
  4. Here you will find which version of Local you’re running

Does Local work with non-WordPress sites?

Yes! You can also save your non-WordPress setups as Blueprints to reuse them.

To use Local with non-WordPress setups, create a new site like normal and then delete all WordPress files. You can also delete any WP related tables in the database, but make sure the database connection stays the same.


Are there any Addons available for Local?

Yes! You can browse the addons category in the Local community forums.
